Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1769.

Pine tall-case astronomical clock. Top section with a molded cornice and a door with a circular opening. Waist with molded top, rectangular case door, paneled bottom and box base. Plaque affixed to case with the inscription "Astronomical clock constructed by David Rittenhouse for his observations of the Transit of Venus in 1769 Presented by his executors." Engraved brass dial with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals. Engraved seconds dial inside the chapter ring. Time only movement.
